This 8-hour course provides an in-depth, operations-focused framework for integrating mass decontamination into large-crowd and special-event environments. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based, hybrid decontamination strategies that prioritize speed, responder safety, casualty dignity, dignity of care, and continuity of operations. Through a combination of instruction, operational discussion, and applied planning, participants will gain the knowledge required to design, implement, and manage scalable mass decontamination operations for planned events and emergent incidents.

Course Description: Special Event Mass Decon is designed to address the demands of potential large-scale events in which singular or multiple organizations would require a response. Special Events Mass Decon focuses on the decontamination civilian patients and casualties, along with understanding the techniques and technologies to accomplish decon efficiently and effectively. This course introduces the latest in evidence-based practices for managing and scaling decontamination operations, discusses the risks of contamination and its impact on special events, as well as Initial Action Plan development.
