Until now, HazMat teams had two choices of decontamination processes: wet or dry decon.
Wet decon is effective, but time consuming and generated contaminated runoff that must be disposed of safely.
To overcome the disadvantages of the wet process, people have attempted a dry decontamination process using a powder decontaminant. These powders were never very effective and a pain to deploy and clean up.
Now, two scientific breakthroughs have made it possible to get all the advantages of both wet and dry decon without the long operational times, large logistical footprint, and expensive disposal costs.
