Reusable Hood with Powered Air Purifying Respirator

The reusable SWEDE Butyl Hood PAPR Kit combines the protection of the highly impermeable butyl rubber material with the SWEDE WMD PAPR Kit and hood design. The integrated system provides head and respiratory protection from all known chemical and biological agents plus alpha and beta radiological particles. Special considerations have been given to user comfort, communications, and hydration. The SWEDE Butyl Hood WMD PAPR Kit fully integrates with SWEDE coveralls with no duct tape. The SWEDE WMD PAPR operates by drawing air into the hood creating an overpressure of clean breathable air. The proprietary tight neck seal and silicon half mask allow for a broader range of end users including those with glasses, facial and long hair. With the SWEDE Butyl Hood you have the advantage of training in the same gear that will protect you in a real life scenario. No fit testing is required.

Butyl rubber offers an extremely high level of protection against all known chemical agents in solid, liquid, and gaseous forms for extended durations of time.  It is easily cleaned with a soap solution allowing for multiple uses.

User Safety
The SWEDE Butyl Hood has butyl tape over Teflon stitched seams to prevent inward leakage.  The clean water drinking kit allows a person wearing the SWEDE Butyl Hood WMD PAPR Kit to keep hydrated while wearing protective clothing.  The drinking straw is integrated into the half mask and water bottle attaches with a quick connection to the front of the hood.  An optional two-way communications system can be wired into the hood and face piece by the manufacturer.
