Transport Incubator Limitations
Transporting infants requires an environment that will keep them safe and warm. Until now, the only way to guarantee this was to use a heavy, cumbersome, large, and costly transport incubator. These expensive devices require an electrical supply to function and are not readily available as they require additional equipment and dedicated vehicles. The BabyPod eliminates the need for this cumbersome equipment and dedicated infant transport vehicles while maintaining the utmost in safety for infant transport. The BabyPod seamlessly integrates with the AmbuBus for mass casualty incident (MCI) transport and hospital evacuation.
Compact Size - Easily Transportable
The length of the BabyPod is slightly more than one meter (39.97") and is intended for infants weighing up to 17.6 lbs. (8 kg). Its compact size allows for safe, easy transport of a pediatric patient. A unique system featuring webbing straps and quick release buckles allows the BabyPod to be mounted to any patient transport device, like the AmbuBus, AmbuStretcher, or any transport litter. It weighs less than 22 lbs. (10 kg) and can easily be carried by a single person.
Meets "Best Practices for Children in Ambulances" DOT Guidance
The U.S. Department of Transportantion's (DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released DOT HS 811 677 in September 2012. "Working Group Best-Practice Recommendations for the Safe Transportation of Children in Emergency Ground Ambulances" recommends that children/infants not be held by the parent, caregiver, or EMT during transport (page 9). The BabyPod costs less than a standard transport isolette and reduces the consumption of supplemental oxygen by up to 400 percent (compared to standard transport isolettes), resulting in an additional cost savings.
Lightweight Carbon Fiber Construction
Thea dvanced carbon fiber construction makes BabyPod one of the lightest and strongest infant transport devices in existence. The external shell of the pod is manufactured with no metal components, allowing the infant to have an MRI, CT scan, or X-ray while remaining safely in the BabyPod.
Patient Visability and Access
The BabyPod has a transparent lid that allows for excellent visibility of the infant patient. The lid is secured at both the "Head" and "Foot" with an easy access turn knob. Once released, the lid fully opens to allow the patient to be placed into or removed from the unit, or treated before and after transport. During transport, access to the infant is allowed via 4 access ports - two on either side of the lid. Access for ventilators, syringe tubing, or wires, is provided through two fixed openings on each end of the lid.
The BabyPod is completely AmbuBus compatibile. The AmbuBus from First Line Technology is an effective and efficient solution for mass evacuation and transport of special needs patients, casualties, and others who require non-ambulatory transport.
