- Once in solution, the CW Agent is chemically changed to a non–toxic form
- Once the CW Agent is decontaminated, RSDL leaves a non–toxic residue that can be rinsed off when operational conditions permit
Personal equipment decontamination (using available bottles), materials tested for compatibility:
- Metals: aluminum, copper, stainless steel, tin, zinc, aluminum, anodized finishes, phosphate finishes
- M16A3 steel, steel castings; stainless steel springs; steel and aluminum forgings
- Thermoset plastics (Fiberite™); thermoplastics; silicone rubber
- Compounded elastomer blends
- Butyl
- Bromobutyl
RSDL’s advantages as a lotion:
- Eliminates powder particle inhalation hazard
- Eliminates the reduction in integrity to the respirator’s seal that powder particles cause
- Eliminates particle build–up in the respirator’s exhalation valve
- Eliminates powder particles entering the eyes
- Enhances coverage and “spreadability”
- Provides tactile sensation of coverage in situations when visibility is reduced (night operations or when eyes are closed)
Once the CW Agent is decontaminated, it does NOT Off Gas under respirator or PPE
In preliminary in–vitro trials at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), RSDL has shown good efficacy against 4 selected TICs
