Decon Stretcher

Efficient Non-Ambulatory Showering

The SWEDE Decon Stretcher System is a safe and effective way of processing non-ambulatory casualties in a decontamination or shower line. The stainless steel M-Frame has no rollers to lubricate and is easily decontaminated after every use. It takes seconds to open or close allowing for rapid storage and deployment capabilities. The system reduces the risk of cross contamination by moving the casualty and not the stretcher.

Users: First Responders/Receivers, Hospitals, HazMat, Fire Fighters, Military

Additional Information

SWEDE Decon Stretcher
The SWEDE Decon Stretcher is designed to meet the rugged requirements of an emergency situation without compromising effective decontamination procedures. The porous PVC covering does not allow for wastewater to pool and is sturdy enough to support a 300 pound person. The stainless steel frame is easy to hold with gloved hands and is simple to decon with hot water or solution. It is always recommended that a clean stretcher be used to remove a casualty from the decontamination environment.

Assisted Decontamination
Secondary and cross contamination during the decontamination process can be avoided by using assisted decontamination procedures. Warm water and a sheltered environment are only the first steps towards an effective decontamination operation. Wide decon lanes found in SWEDE Decon Systems allow for assistance throughout the entire decontamination process. Each lane has room enough for 2 first responders with SCBA’s to assist each other with the decon process. Parents can assist their children and elderly easily.

SWEDE recommends that consideration be given to adopt an assisted decontamination approach. There are many benefits to this methodology beyond just reaching the hard to clean body parts like the back. Casualty flow can be more efficiently controlled and cross decontamination can be reduced. Following an event requiring decon, it is also likely that casualties will be weak, nervous, and even trembling requiring assistance to walk. Effective decontamination of non-ambulatory casualties is not possible without assistance.
