Fibertect was developed by Texas Tech University’s Institute of Environmental and Human Health Associate Professor Seshadri Ramkumar and is manufactured by Hobbs Bonded Fibers for First Line Technology.

Chantilly, VA – With the 2009 hurricane season underway, Mississippi has joined other states in FEMA Region IV by deploying the AmbuBus from First Line Technology in a statewide effort to enhance special needs evacuation capabilities. Delivery of the initial 14 AmbuBus kits, purchased through grant funds, were delivered to 6 different locations around the state. A joint training session was conducted between the school districts and the Department of Health to prepare for summertime severe weather.

The AmbuBus is a retrofit kit that enables vehicles of opportunity such as school or transit buses to be temporally converted into a mass casualty transport vehicle. The AmbuBus is currently being utilized statewide by Georgia and Alabama to enhance their special needs evacuation capabilities during hurricane evacuations and pandemic preparedness.
